Instagram does not take a cut of direct brand deals. Marketplaces may charge the brand or you a fee.

Why Instagram rates look so different from source to source

Search for Instagram rates and you will find numbers that differ by ten times or more. They measure different things. impact.com's 2025 guide gives US averages from rate cards its team collected, $500 to $2,000 per post for creators under 15,000 followers. Influencer Marketing Hub's October 2026 page lists $10 to $100 for creators under 10,000. Collabstr reports what brands actually paid on its marketplace in 2025, an average of $193 per collaboration across all sizes.

None of these is wrong. A US agency campaign with usage rights and a creator brief costs far more than a quick post booked on a marketplace. The calculator shows each source's range for your follower count so you can see where you sit.

Setting your own rate

Start from what you get in views and engagement, not followers. If your posts reach far fewer people than your follower count, brands will notice. Then add for extras like usage rights, where the brand runs your content as an ad, exclusivity, or a quick turnaround.

Collabstr found nearly 80% of its collaborations cost under $300 and only 2% above $1,000. If you are new to brand deals, pricing near the marketplace average and raising it after a few good results is a sensible path.

Beyond one off posts

Ask for ongoing deals, since a three month package is easier to plan around than single posts. And send your audience somewhere you own, such as a newsletter, so a change in the Instagram algorithm does not take your income with it.
