How the calculator works
Plan prices and the 0% take rate from beehiiv pricing, checked Nov 2026. Lite is $59 a month up to 1,000 subscribers, $139 up to 10,000 and $469 up to 100,000 on monthly billing. Stripe fees from Stripe pricing.
The three beehiiv income streams
beehiiv gives you three built in ways to earn. The Ad Network places sponsor ads in your issues and pays per unique open or per verified click, depending on the offer. Boosts pay you when a reader you recommend subscribes to another newsletter. Paid subscriptions let readers pay you directly, and beehiiv takes 0% of that on paid plans, so only Stripe's card fee comes off.
The Free plan covers up to 2,500 subscribers but does not include the Ad Network or paid subscriptions, according to beehiiv's pricing page in November 2026. That is why the calculator subtracts the Lite price for your list size.
What we do not know, and why some inputs are examples
beehiiv does not publish an average Ad Network CPM or an average Boost payout. Its Ad Network page uses a $5 CPM as an example, so that is our example, clearly marked. Boost offers are set by each advertiser and appear in your dashboard. Replace both with what you see once you are in.
What beehiiv does publish is useful context. Its State of Newsletters 2026 report says paid subscriptions on beehiiv earned $19 million in 2025, up from $8 million in 2024, and that newsletters launched in 2025 earned their first dollar in a median 66 days.
A worked example
With 5,000 subscribers, a 41% open rate and four ads at a $5 CPM, the Ad Network adds about $41 a month. Thirty one paying readers at $10 add about $291 after Stripe. The Lite plan for up to 5,000 subscribers is $109 a month on monthly billing, so you would net around $224. On yearly billing Lite costs $95 a month at that size.
For most small lists paid subscriptions and direct sponsors outweigh network ads. Use the Ad Network to fill slots you have not sold yourself.
